5 Question Friday

1. Who is the better cook, you or your spouse?
Since its just me, this is a given. But I am a good cook.

2. How often do you talk to your mom?
Probably every couple of weeks. But she's on facebook so we interact daily. Talking on the phone while the boys are awake is not possible.

3. Are you adventurous in the kitchen or stick to the recipe?
I think of recipes as a guildine or idea generator. I will loosely follow a recipe the first time, then its off on my own.

4. Is your second toe longer than your big toe?
On one foot yes, the other no.

5. Do you dress up for Halloween? (Bonus question: What will you be this year?)
Always. This year, a mop. Why you ask, because MOPs is the abbreviation for my department at work and we are all coming as mops. I may dress up differently on Sunday when the boys and I go out. The mop reference will be less relevant then.

Dirty Business

Imagine having to reuse a dirty diaper because you can't afford more? Or going without food to buy diapers. Thousands of moms face this problem every day. They esstimate 1 in 5 Canadian moms can't afford diapers.

While food is always needed at the foodbank, people often forget that babies have other needs too. Diapers are a huge one. For those of you using disposables, think of how many you go through a day. Imagine if you could only afford half of those or less? One woman told me of how her heart broke when she saw a gramma shopping the scratch and dents in the grocery store, with a toddler in tow wearing a dish towel and plastic bag for a diaper.

If you can, next time diapers are on sale, grab a couple of extras and drop them in the donation bin for the foodbank or your local charity.

You can also donate online to the foodbank (just enter Every Little Bottom in the gift in honor of section).

And you can help without spending any money. If you collect huggies points, you can donate just 16 points to help a baby for a day. And you dont even need to buy any huggies to get to 16 points.

Here is a list of active Huggies bonus codes that will get you there (and beyond).

Its a little know fact that I used the local foodbank for a while towards the end of my leave. I had been living on a very negative budget and this helped alot. They rarely had diapers left, and when they did, there was no choice in size. But as I said, it all helped. Since coming back to work, once I settled in, I buy extra diapers when they are on sale so I can give back. I've passed giving what I used, but I keep giving more. The need continues.

Please help if you can. And please, pass this message on. If you have a blog, share the information. There are links with more information at both the Canadian and US Huggies sites. There are other suggestions, like a local diaper drive (good for Church's and community groups)

Somebody had a haircut

I liked his hair, I thought it looked adorable, but he needed a cut. It was getting in his eyes but more than that, his brother was using it as a weapon to pull (and he'd respond with a firm bite but that's a story for another time).

So Nathan had his first 'real' haircut. He loved the little car seat until she put the cape around him then it was NO WAY. So he sat on my lap. I had a cape but he wanted nothing to do with one. He cried at the very start but then settled down into it and it went well. A friend took pictures of the actual process so I'm waiting for those. But in the meantime, I thought I'd share the final look.

Oh, I said 'real' haircut because his head was partially shaved in the NICU for an IV. They saved the hair for me in an envelope that reads 'First Haircut'.

Oh, and his hair is still longer than Corwyn's.
